# About This Guide

The Administrator Guide covers the functionality and configuration of your Cloud Voice hosted phone system (a cloud-based PBX, or Private Branch Exchange, the system that routes calls for your organization). It walks you through everyday operation and ongoing maintenance.

## Who this guide is for

These pages are written for the administrators who deploy and manage Cloud Voice. They assume you are comfortable with networking and general IT administration.

## How it is organized

Use the areas below to jump to the topic you need.

:::tip
Setting up a brand-new system? Work through the list roughly top to bottom. Start with the **Status Center** to check system health, then move on to extensions, trunks, and call handling.
:::

- [Status Center](/pbx/administrator-guide/dashboard-overview/), Monitor system health, resource usage, and live call activity.
- [Extension](/pbx/administrator-guide/extension-overview/), Create and manage the extensions your users call from.
- [Contacts](/pbx/administrator-guide/contacts-overview/), Maintain shared and personal contact directories.
- [Client Permission](/pbx/administrator-guide/cloud-voice-client-permissions/), Control what users can see and do in the Cloud Voice App (the desktop, mobile, and web client software your users log in to).
- [LDAP Server](/pbx/administrator-guide/ldap-server-overview/), Publish your directory over LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) so compatible devices and clients can look up contacts.
- [Organization](/pbx/administrator-guide/organization-overview/), Model your company structure and reporting hierarchy.
- [Extension Group](/pbx/administrator-guide/extension-group-overview/), Group extensions to simplify management and permissions.
- [Auto-Provisioning](/pbx/administrator-guide/auto-provisioning-overview/), Configure supported IP phones and endpoints automatically.

:::caution
Call Control includes emergency calling (E911). Configure and test it before your users start placing live calls. If emergency calling is set up incorrectly, a call may fail to reach responders or send them the wrong location.
