# Allow Callers to Review Voicemail Messages

When this option is enabled, a caller who reaches voicemail hears their own recording played back after they finish speaking. They can then keep the message or record it again before hanging up. This gives callers a chance to catch a mumbled word, background noise, or a wrong phone number and leave a clearer message, which is why it is worth turning on for lines where message quality matters (reception, support, or any number the public dials).

:::note
This is one of the **Caller Options** in the global Voicemail settings, so it applies to every caller who reaches voicemail on the system, not to a single extension. You will find it in the same place as the other caller options, such as breaking out to an operator or dialing another extension.
:::

## Turn on caller review

1. Sign in to the Cloud Voice management portal and open **Call Features > Voicemail**.
2. Under **Caller Options**, tick **Allow callers to review message**.
3. Click **Save**, then **Apply** to put the change into effect.

:::caution
The setting is not live until you click **Apply**. Clicking only **Save** stores your choice but leaves the current behavior in place, so callers will not be offered the review step until you apply it.

## What callers experience

After the caller finishes recording and stops speaking, the system plays the message back and lets them decide whether to keep it or record it over. The extra step adds a few seconds to each voicemail, which is a fair trade on lines where a clear, complete message saves a return call.

:::tip
Pair this with a helpful greeting. If you use a custom voicemail greeting, [update the greeting](/pbx/administrator-guide/change-voicemail-greetings/) so callers know they will get a chance to check their message before it is saved. This sets expectations and cuts down on hang-ups mid-recording.
