# Allow Users to Force Drop Extensions

Call Force Drop lets you nominate specific extensions that are permitted to hang up another extension's active call on demand. An authorized user triggers the action by dialing a feature code, which is useful when a call needs to be cleared immediately, for example to free a line or interrupt a stuck session.

:::note
This feature is available on recent releases of the Cloud Voice platform. If the Force Drop settings described below are not present in your portal, contact support to confirm your platform version.

## Turn on Call Force Drop

1. Sign in to the Cloud Voice management portal and open **Call Features > Feature Code**.
2. Find the **Force Drop** section and configure the two settings.

   - **Call Force Drop**: Keep the default feature code `*54`, or replace it with a code that suits your dial plan. A feature code is a short dial string (starting with `*` or `#`) that triggers a PBX action instead of placing a call.
   - **Call Force Drop Permission**: Choose the extensions you want to authorize. Only these extensions can force drop another extension's call.
3. Click **Save**, then **Apply** to activate your changes.

:::caution
Any extension you add to **Call Force Drop Permission** can hang up other users' live calls at will. Grant it only to trusted roles such as supervisors or administrators, and keep the list as small as possible.
:::

## How authorized users drop a call

Once the permission is in place, an authorized user has two ways to end a call:

- Dial the **feature code followed by the target extension number** to drop that extension's current call.
- Dial the **feature code on its own** to drop the current call on the monitored extension. The monitored extension is the one the user is already watching, for example an extension shown on a Busy Lamp Field (BLF) key or listened in on during call monitoring.

:::danger
Force drop ends the connected call instantly, with no warning or confirmation to either party. Never force drop a call that could be an in-progress emergency (911) call: doing so cuts the caller off from emergency services.
