# Configure the Call Forwarding Prompt

When Cloud Voice forwards an incoming call to a different destination, it can first play a short spoken notice so the caller understands what is happening. This page explains how that prompt behaves and how to turn it off or adjust the hold music that follows it.

## How the prompt works

By default, forwarding a call triggers two things in sequence. Cloud Voice first plays the forwarding prompt, "please hold when I try to locate the person you are calling," and then plays the hold music (also called Music on Hold, or MoH) while the call is routed.

If you would rather callers not realize the call is being redirected, disable the prompt. The forwarding still happens; the caller simply hears no announcement.

## Turn off the forwarding prompt

1. Sign in to the Cloud Voice portal and open **PBX Settings > Voice Prompt > Prompt Preferences**.
2. Clear the **Play Call Forwarding Prompt** checkbox.
3. Optional: to change what callers hear while the call is routed, pick either **Music on Hold** or **Ringing Tone** from the **Music on Hold for Call Forwarding** drop-down list.

   :::note
   The **Music on Hold** option uses the playlist you have set up under **PBX Settings > Voice Prompt > Prompt Preferences > Music on Hold**.
   :::
4. Click **Save**, then **Apply**.

   :::tip
   Changes are staged when you click **Save** and only go live after you click **Apply**. If a setting does not seem to take effect, confirm you completed the **Apply** step.
