# Configure Emergency Notification Prompt

When someone on your system dials an emergency number, Cloud Voice can alert your designated notification contacts with a spoken announcement. A built-in prompt is ready to use out of the box, and you can swap in your own recording whenever you prefer a different message.

The default announcement identifies the caller and states which emergency number they dialed, so notified contacts immediately know what happened and where.

:::note
This prompt is the message your **notification contacts** hear when they are alerted. It does not change how or where the emergency call itself is routed; it only controls the internal heads-up your contacts receive.
:::

## Change the notification prompt

1. Sign in to the PBX (Private Branch Exchange) web portal and open **Call Control > Emergency Number > Notification Contact**.
2. Click **Notification Prompt**.
3. In the window that opens, adjust the prompt settings:
   1. From the **Prompt** drop-down list, pick one of the available prompts, or upload a recording of your own.

      :::note
      Any file you upload must meet the [audio file requirements](/pbx/administrator-guide/audio-files-requirements/). A file that does not match those specifications will fail to upload.
      :::

      :::tip
      The default prompt names the caller and the emergency number they dialed. If you record your own message, make sure it still gives contacts enough context to respond quickly.
      :::
   2. In the **Prompt Repeat Count** field, enter how many times the announcement should play. Repeating it a few times helps ensure the contact catches the message.
   3. Click **Save**.
