# Customize Email Template for Scheduled CDR

When a scheduled CDR runs, Cloud Voice delivers the report by email. You can replace the wording of that email with your own subject line and body while still handing recipients everything they need to retrieve the records.

:::note
CDR stands for Call Detail Record: a log of calls (who called whom, when, how long, and the outcome). A scheduled CDR is a report Cloud Voice generates automatically on a schedule you set and emails to the recipients you choose. This page changes only the email wording, not the schedule or the call data itself.
:::

## What the default email includes

Unless you customize it, the scheduled CDR email is sent in the language set under **System > Email > Email Templates > Notification Email Language**, using the built-in template. That default message gives recipients:

- A link for downloading the CDR file.
- How long the download link stays valid (its validity period).
- System identifiers, namely the PBX name and PBX serial number.

If that wording suits you, no action is needed. To change it, follow the steps below.

:::tip
The default email already tells recipients how to get their file and how long they have to do it. If you write a custom message, keep those three pieces (the download link, the validity period, and the system identifiers) so recipients are not left guessing.

## Create a custom template

1. Sign in to the web portal and open **Reports and Recordings > CDR**.
2. Select the **Scheduled CDR** tab, then click **Email Template**.

3. Set up your template:

   a. Open the **Template** drop-down list and choose **Custom**.

   b. Write the email subject and body to match what you want recipients to see.

   :::caution
   Choosing **Custom** fully replaces the built-in message with what you type here. Whatever you leave out is gone from the email, so make sure your body still includes the download link. If you omit it, recipients receive an email with no way to reach the CDR file. To restore the built-in wording, reopen this dialog and switch **Template** back off **Custom**.
   :::

   c. Click **Save**.

Every scheduled CDR sent from this point on uses your custom email template.
