# Delete Onsite Proxy Instances

An Onsite Proxy instance is a local relay that lets IP phones (Internet Protocol desk phones) on a customer site register with Cloud Voice through a single on-premise connection. When an instance is no longer needed, you can remove it from your PBX (Private Branch Exchange, the phone system that routes calls). Instances can be deleted one at a time or several at once.

:::note
The Onsite Proxy list lives under **System > Onsite Proxy** in the PBX web portal. That is where you both review and delete instances.
:::

:::caution
Any IP phones that register through an Onsite Proxy instance lose their connection to Cloud Voice the moment that instance is removed. Confirm the instance is out of service before you delete it. If those phones still need proxy connectivity, reassign them to a different available instance afterward under **Auto Provisioning > Phones > Edit > Options > Onsite Proxy**.
:::

:::tip
To avoid dropping active calls, move any phones still using the instance to another available proxy (same path: **Auto Provisioning > Phones > Edit > Options > Onsite Proxy**) before you delete it, rather than reconnecting them afterward.
:::
