# Manage Allowed Numbers

Allowed-number lists control which callers are permitted through even when a blocking rule would otherwise stop them. Once you have created a list, you can rename it, change which numbers it covers, or remove it entirely. You would edit a list to keep an exemption current (for example, adding a new office number), and delete a list when the exemption is no longer needed. This page walks through both editing and deleting existing lists.

:::note
The PBX (Private Branch Exchange, the phone system that routes your calls) web portal is the browser-based admin console for Cloud Voice. Allowed Numbers and Blocked Numbers live together under the same menu, so you can jump between them without leaving the page.
:::

## Edit an allowed-numbers list

1. Sign in to the PBX web portal and open **Call Features > Blocked/Allowed Numbers > Allowed Numbers**.
2. Locate the list you want to change and click the edit icon ![Edit](/images/pbx/edit.png) next to it.
3. In the dialog that opens, adjust any of the three editable fields as required: the list **name**, the **allowed number(s)** it contains, or the **type**.
4. Click **Save**, then **Apply** to put the change into effect.

:::caution
Both **Save** and **Apply** are required. **Save** only records your edits in the dialog; the change does not go live on the phone system until you click **Apply**. If you leave without applying, the list keeps its old settings.
:::

## Delete an allowed-numbers list

1. Sign in to the PBX web portal and open **Call Features > Blocked/Allowed Numbers > Allowed Numbers**.
2. To remove a single list:
   1. Tick the checkbox beside the list, then click the delete icon ![Delete](/images/pbx/delete.png).
   2. Confirm by clicking **OK** in the dialog.
3. To remove several lists at once:
   1. Tick the checkboxes for each list you want gone, then click **Delete**.
   2. Confirm by clicking **OK** in the dialog.

:::caution
Deleting a list is immediate and cannot be undone; there is no separate Apply step for a deletion. Once a list is removed, its numbers no longer have an exemption. If any of those numbers match an entry or pattern in your Blocked Numbers, they will now be blocked according to the applicable blocking type.
