# Edit Extensions

After an extension exists, you can adjust its settings at any time. Cloud Voice lets you open one extension to change everything about it, or select several extensions and apply the same change to all of them in a single pass. An extension is the internal number and user profile tied to a phone or app on your system.

## Edit a single extension

1. Sign in to the admin portal and open **Extension and Trunk > Extension**.
2. Find the extension you want to change in the list, then click the edit icon ![Edit](/images/pbx/edit.png) on its row.
3. Adjust the settings as needed.
4. Click **Save**, then **Apply**.

**Save** stores your edits, but they do not go live until you click **Apply**. **Apply** pushes the pending configuration to the system so the changes take effect. This is true for both single and bulk edits.

## Edit extensions in bulk

Use bulk editing when you want to push the same setting to a group of extensions without opening each one.

1. Sign in to the admin portal and open **Extension and Trunk > Extension**.
2. In the list, select the checkbox beside each extension you want to update, then click **Edit**.
3. Select the checkbox next to each feature you want to change, and set the new values.
4. Click **Save**, then **Apply**.

In bulk mode, only the features whose checkboxes you select are written to the chosen extensions. Any setting you leave unchecked stays as it was on each extension.

:::caution
A bulk edit writes the same value to every extension you selected and overwrites whatever those extensions had before. There is no one-click undo, so double-check your row selection and the feature checkboxes before you click **Save**.
