# Forward All Incoming Calls to Another Destination by BLF Key

Cloud Voice can push a dedicated forwarding key, called a Busy Lamp Field (BLF) key, to any IP (Internet Protocol) phone that you manage through Auto Provisioning. A BLF key has its own status light, so it both triggers an action and shows the current state at a glance. Once the key is in place, the person at the desk simply presses it to divert every incoming call to a destination you have chosen in advance, and presses it again to stop forwarding.

:::note
This method is separate from an extension's [presence-based and feature-code call forwarding](/pbx/administrator-guide/forward-internal-and-external-calls-to-different-destinations/). Forwarding by BLF key applies only to IP phones, and it always redirects *all* incoming calls to the single destination you define.

## Prerequisites

The phone must already be connected to Cloud Voice through Auto Provisioning and paired with an extension. If you still need to provision it, see:

- [Auto Provision IP Phones Remotely via RPS Method](/pbx/administrator-guide/auto-provision-ip-phones-remotely-rps-method/)
- [Auto Provision IP Phones Remotely with Proxy](/pbx/administrator-guide/auto-provision-ip-phones-remotely-with-proxy/)

## Step 1. Define the forwarding function key

1. Sign in to the PBX (Private Branch Exchange) web portal and open **Extension and Trunk > Extension**, then edit the extension that belongs to the phone.
2. Open the **Function Keys** tab.
3. Add a function key and configure it for forwarding:

   - **Type**: Choose **Call Forwarding**.
   - **Value**: Type the number that should receive the forwarded calls.
     :::caution
     When the destination is an external number, the extension tied to this phone needs permission to use the outbound route. Without that permission, forwarding will not go through.
     :::
   - **Label**: Optional. Whatever you enter here appears on the phone's display beside the key.
     :::tip
     Set a clear label such as "Forward to Mobile" so the person at the desk can tell what the key does without having to remember.
     :::
4. Click **Save**.

## Step 2. Send the settings to the phone

The phone does not pick up the new key automatically. You have to reprovision it so it pulls the updated configuration from Cloud Voice.

1. In the PBX web portal, go to **Auto Provisioning > Phones** and click the reprovision icon ![reprovision icon](/images/pbx/refresh.png) next to the phone you just edited.

   ![The Phones list in Auto Provisioning with the reprovision action highlighted for a phone](/images/pbx/reprovision-for-call-forwarding.png)
2. Confirm by clicking **OK** in the dialog that appears.

   :::caution
   Reprovisioning reboots the phone and briefly drops its registration, so any call in progress on that phone will be cut off. Reprovision at a quiet time, or wait until the phone is idle.
   :::

## Result

- The key's BLF status light (LED, the small indicator lamp) reflects the forwarding state at a glance:
  - **Green**: forwarding is on.
  - **Off**: forwarding is off.
- Pressing the key turns forwarding on instantly, and every call arriving at the extension is redirected to the destination you preset. Pressing it again turns forwarding back off.

For example, with this key active on extension 2006, all calls to 2006 are forwarded to the external number 61234567890.
