# Log out of the PBX web portal

When you finish working in Cloud Voice, you can end your session in one of two ways: close the browser tab, or sign out from inside the portal. Both stop your current view of the portal, but signing out is the deliberate way to end the session, which matters most on a shared or public computer.

Closing the browser tab hides the portal, but it does not always end your login right away. Choosing **Log out** is the reliable way to close the session. If you only close the tab, the session stays active until it times out on its own.

## Sign out

1. In the upper-right corner of the portal, click your account icon.

2. In the menu that appears, choose **Log out**.

You are returned to the sign-in page. To get back into the portal, sign in again with your credentials.

On a shared, borrowed, or public computer, always use **Log out** instead of just closing the tab. This prevents the next person from reopening the browser and landing in your account.
