# Manage Custom Prompts

Once a custom prompt exists on your Cloud Voice system, you can maintain it at any time from the same place you created it. Use the steps below to record a fresh version, listen to what is stored, save a local copy, or delete a prompt you no longer need.

## Open the custom prompt list

1. Sign in to the Cloud Voice management portal.
2. Go to **PBX Settings > Voice Prompt > Custom Prompt**.

Each prompt appears with an **Operations** column that holds the actions described below.

## Manage a prompt

In the **Operations** column of the prompt you want to change, choose the action you need:

- **Re-record the prompt**: Click ![Re-record](/images/pbx/Record.png), then pick the extension you want to record from. The system calls that extension so you can record a new version over the phone.
- **Play the prompt**: Click ![Play](/images/pbx/play.png), then choose whether to hear the audio on an extension or directly in your browser.
- **Download the prompt**: Click ![Download](/images/pbx/download.png) to save the audio file to your computer.
- **Delete the prompt**: Click ![Delete](/images/pbx/delete.png), confirm with **OK**, then click **Apply** to finish removing it.

Playing the prompt in your browser is the quickest way to confirm a recording sounds right, since it does not tie up a phone. Choose the extension option when you want to hear the prompt on real handset audio.

Deleting a prompt is permanent. If the prompt is still assigned to a feature such as an IVR (Interactive Voice Response) menu or a queue announcement, remove or replace it there first so callers do not reach a missing recording.
