# Manage Speed Dial Numbers

A speed dial entry maps a short code to a longer or external phone number, so users can dial the shortcut instead of the full number. Once you have set up speed dial shortcuts, you can revise their details or remove ones you no longer need. This page covers both tasks.

:::note
Speed dial entries live under **Call Features > Speed Dial** in the Cloud Voice management portal. Most changes you make here are staged and do not take effect until you click **Apply** at the end of the task.
:::

## Edit a speed dial number

Use this when a destination number has changed, or when you want to reassign the short code or update its label.

1. Sign in to the Cloud Voice management portal and open **Call Features > Speed Dial**.
2. Locate the entry you want to change and click the edit icon ![Edit an entry](/images/pbx/edit.png) next to it.
3. Adjust the **Speed Dial Number** (the short code users dial), **Phone Number** (the destination it connects to), and **Remark** (a free-text label) fields as required.
4. Click **Save**, then **Apply** to commit the change.

:::tip
Give each entry a clear **Remark**, such as the person or site it reaches. A good label makes it much easier to pick the right entry before you edit or delete it.
:::

:::caution
Changing the **Speed Dial Number** changes the code people actually dial. Anyone still dialing the old code will not reach the destination, so let affected users know the new code.
:::

## Delete speed dial numbers

You can remove a single entry or clear several at once.

:::danger
Deleting a speed dial entry is permanent. Once you click **Apply**, the shortcut stops working and cannot be recovered; you would have to create it again from scratch. Confirm you have selected the correct entry before you proceed.
:::

### Remove one entry

1. Sign in to the Cloud Voice management portal and open **Call Features > Speed Dial**.
2. Click the delete icon ![Delete an entry](/images/pbx/delete.png) beside the entry you want to remove.
3. Click **OK** to confirm, then **Apply**.

### Remove several entries at once

1. Sign in to the Cloud Voice management portal and open **Call Features > Speed Dial**.
2. Tick the checkbox for each entry you want to remove, then click **Delete**.
3. Click **OK** to confirm, then **Apply**.

:::caution
A bulk delete removes every entry you have ticked, and there is a single confirmation for the whole batch rather than one prompt per entry. Review your selection carefully before clicking **OK**.
