# Manage Time Zones

Once you have added extra time zones to your phone system, you can revise their settings or remove the ones you no longer need. Both actions live on the same screen where you set business hours and holidays.

Time zones control how the system reads your business-hours and holiday schedules, so calls route to the right destination at the correct local time. Keeping a time zone accurate keeps those schedules accurate.

## Edit a time zone

Use this when a time zone's details are wrong or need to change, for example when a site relocates or an existing offset was set incorrectly.

1. Sign in to the management portal and open **Call Control > Business Hours and Holidays**.
2. Find the time zone you want to change, click the three-dot more-options icon ![More options menu](/images/pbx/more%20vert.png) next to it, and choose **Edit**.
3. Adjust the time zone settings in the dialog that opens.
4. Click **Save**, then **Apply**.
5. Restart the phone system so the change takes effect.

:::caution
Edits to a time zone only take effect after the phone system restarts. A restart interrupts service and drops any calls in progress, so schedule it for a maintenance window or after hours.

Your updated time zone settings are now in place.

## Delete a time zone

Use this to clear out a time zone you no longer use.

The default time zone cannot be removed.
:::

1. Sign in to the management portal and open **Call Control > Business Hours and Holidays**.
2. Find the time zone you want to remove, click the three-dot more-options icon ![More options menu](/images/pbx/more%20vert.png) next to it, and choose **Delete**.
3. In the confirmation dialog, click **OK**, then **Apply**.

Deleting takes effect as soon as you click **Apply**. Unlike an edit, the delete procedure does not include a system restart.

The time zone is removed.
