# Set up Email Notifications for Missed Calls

Cloud Voice can alert an extension user by email each time they miss an incoming call, so nothing slips through unnoticed. You enable this per extension.

## Before you begin

- The [system email server](/pbx/administrator-guide/email-server-overview/) must be configured so the platform can send outbound mail.
- The extension you want to notify must have an email address on file.

:::caution
Both prerequisites gate delivery. If the system email server is not set up, or the extension has no email address, Cloud Voice cannot send the notification even with the checkbox enabled.
:::

## Turn on missed-call notifications

1. Sign in to the PBX (Private Branch Exchange, your hosted phone system) management portal and go to **Extension and Trunk > Extension**, then open the extension you want to edit.
2. Select the **Features** tab.
3. Under **Notifications**, tick **Send email notifications on missed calls**.
4. Click **Save**, then **Apply**.

## What happens next

Whenever the extension user misses a call, Cloud Voice emails the alert to the address associated with the extension.

:::note
If the user belongs to a ring group that has [Record Missed Calls](/pbx/administrator-guide/create-a-ring-group/#create-a-ring-group__record-missed-calls) enabled, they will also receive an email for calls they miss through that ring group.
