# Allow web browser notifications on your computer

When you use the Cloud Voice App in a web browser, your computer's operating system controls whether that browser is allowed to raise desktop notifications. If pop-ups for incoming calls, chats, or voicemails never appear, the browser is likely blocked at the system level. Follow the steps for your operating system (Windows or macOS) to turn notifications back on for the browser you use, such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari.

## Windows

1. Open the **Start** menu and select **Settings** (the gear icon).
2. Choose **System**, then **Notifications & actions**.
3. Under **Get notifications from these senders**, find the browser you use for the Cloud Voice App and switch it on.

:::caution
This page also has a master switch near the top (**Get notifications from apps and other senders**). If that master switch is off, every per-browser switch below it is ignored and no notifications appear. Turn the master switch on first, then enable your browser.

## macOS

1. From the **Apple** menu, open **System Preferences**, then **Notifications**.
2. In the list on the left, select the browser you use to open the Cloud Voice App.
3. Set the alert style to **Alerts**.

:::note
macOS offers three alert styles: **None**, **Banners**, and **Alerts**. Banners disappear on their own after a few seconds, so a call notification can vanish before you notice it. **Alerts** stay on screen until you dismiss them, which is why they are the recommended choice for incoming calls.

:::tip
After changing the setting, keep the browser tab or window open so notifications can be delivered. Some browsers also prompt you to allow notifications the first time you sign in to the Cloud Voice App.
