# Configure Cloud Voice App Welcome Email

The welcome email is the message a new user receives to get started. It carries their extension number and voicemail PIN, together with the credentials and step-by-step instructions they need to sign in to the Cloud Voice App. A ready-made template ships with the system, and you can replace it with one of your own.

:::note
Welcome emails are sent in whichever language you have chosen for notifications under **System > Email > Email Templates > Notification Email Language**.
:::

## Open the welcome email settings

1. Sign in to the PBX (Private Branch Exchange, your phone system) web portal and open **Extension and Trunk > Extension**.
2. Above the list of extensions, select **Cloud Voice App Server**.

3. Switch to the **Email Templates** tab.

## Customize the template

1. From the **Template** drop-down list, choose **Custom**.

   :::note
   Leave the list on the default template if the standard wording works for you. You only need the steps below when you want to change what the email says.
   :::

2. Optional: use the **Login Credentials Validity Period (Days)** drop-down list to set how long the sign-in credentials in the email remain valid.

   :::tip
   This is an expiry window: after the chosen number of days, the credentials in that email stop working. A shorter window is safer if an email is forwarded or leaks, so pick the smallest period that still gives a new user enough time to sign in.
   :::

3. Adjust the subject line and body text to suit your organization.

   :::caution
   Leave the `{{.xxx}}` variables in the template untouched. If you alter or remove them, the details in your users' welcome emails will come through incorrect.
   :::

4. Select **Save**.
