# Enable Live Chat on a Squarespace Website

A Live Chat widget lets people browsing your website start a real-time conversation with your agents without having to call in. Once you have generated the Live Chat code snippet in Cloud Voice, you drop it into your Squarespace site's footer. The widget then loads in the lower-right corner of every page.

:::note
A "code snippet" is a short block of HTML/JavaScript (HyperText Markup Language / JavaScript). You do not need to understand what it contains; you only need to copy it from Cloud Voice and paste it into Squarespace exactly as-is.
:::

## Before you begin

You must already have [created a live chat channel](/pbx/contact-center-guide/set-up-a-live-chat-channel/) in Cloud Voice and copied the code snippet it produced. That snippet is what you paste into Squarespace. If you have not generated it yet, complete that step first, because there is nothing to paste without it.

## Add the widget

1. Sign in to your Squarespace account.
2. From the Dashboard, select the site where the widget should appear.

3. In the left-hand menu, choose **Pages > Website Tools > Code Injection**.

   :::note
   Code Injection is the Squarespace feature that lets you add your own code to a site. Pasting the snippet into the **Footer** field (rather than the Header) means the widget loads across the site after the rest of the page content.
   :::

4. Paste the code snippet into the **Footer** field.

   :::caution
   Paste the snippet exactly as you copied it, with no edits, and into the **Footer** field specifically. Trimming, retyping, or altering the code can stop the widget from loading.
   :::

5. Click **Save** in the upper-left corner.

## Result

The Live Chat widget now shows in the bottom-right corner of your website, ready for visitors to start a conversation.

:::tip
After saving, open your published site in a new browser tab (or a private/incognito window) and check for the chat bubble in the lower-right corner. If it does not appear, confirm the snippet was pasted into the **Footer** field and that you clicked **Save**.
