# Add a Fax Cover Page

A fax cover page is the first sheet of an outbound fax. It usually carries the essentials at a glance: who the fax is from, who it is for, and a short note. In the Cloud Voice App you can build your own cover pages and reuse them whenever you send a fax.

## Before you start

- Your system administrator must have given you permission to send faxes. Without it, the Fax Management area is not available to you.
- You can keep up to 10 custom cover pages of your own.

:::note
The 10 page limit counts only the cover pages you create. Cover pages your administrator publishes are shared to everyone and are listed separately, so they do not use up your 10.
:::

## Prepare the cover page file

The cover page is uploaded as a finished PDF (Portable Document Format), so create the layout first and export it to PDF. Make sure the file meets these limits:

- **Format**: PDF (`.pdf`)
- **Size**: under 5 MB

:::tip
Design the page in your usual word processor, then save or export it as a PDF before uploading. If a sample cover page template is available to you, you can start from that and customize it instead of building one from scratch.
:::

:::caution
The upload accepts PDF files under 5 MB only. A file in another format (for example `.docx`) or one that is 5 MB or larger will be rejected, so convert and check the size before you upload.
