# Add a Personal Contact

Personal contacts belong to you alone. They sync automatically across every Cloud Voice App you sign in to, and no one else in your organization can see them.

:::note
Personal contacts are private to you. This is different from **company contacts**, which your administrator manages and everyone in the organization can see. Anything you add here stays visible only to your own account.
:::

The Cloud Voice App gives you several ways to build your personal contact list:

- [Add a contact manually](#add-a-contact-manually)
- [Save a number from a call log, voicemail, or recording](#save-a-number-from-a-call-log-voicemail-or-recording)
- [Copy a contact from your company directory](#copy-a-contact-from-your-company-directory)

## Add a contact manually

1. In the Cloud Voice App, open **Contacts**.
2. In the top-left corner, click the ![contact source selector](/images/pbx/web-group.png) icon, then choose **Personal Contacts** from the drop-down list.

   :::note
   This icon is the contact source selector. It switches your Contacts view between **Personal Contacts**, **Company Contacts**, and any shared phonebooks you have access to. Make sure **Personal Contacts** is selected before you add, or the new contact lands in the wrong list.

5. Click **Save**.

## Save a number from a call log, voicemail, or recording

When an unknown number shows up in your history, you can turn it into a personal contact without retyping it. The steps are the same whether you start from **Call Logs**, **Voicemails**, or **Recordings**.

1. In the Cloud Voice App, open **Call Logs**, **Voicemails**, or **Recordings**.
2. Right-click the entry you want to save.
3. Do one of the following, depending on whether the contact already exists.

**Create a new contact**

1. Click **Add New Contact**. The contact details page opens with the number already added to the number list.
2. From the **Add to** drop-down list, select **Personal Contacts**.

3. Set the number type, then fill in the rest of the contact's information as needed.
4. Click **Save**.

**Add the number to an existing contact**

1. Click **Add to Existing Contact**.
2. In the pop-up window, click the ![contact source selector](/images/pbx/web-group.png) icon in the top-left corner, then select **Personal Contacts**.

   :::tip
   The pop-up may open on a different contact source (such as company contacts). Switch it to **Personal Contacts** before you search, otherwise your existing personal contacts will not appear in the results.

4. Adjust the type of the new number and update the contact's details as needed.
5. Click **Save**.

## Copy a contact from your company directory

:::note
This method is available only if your system administrator has given you permission to manage company contacts.
:::

1. In the Cloud Voice App, open **Contacts**.
2. In the top-left corner, click the ![contact source selector](/images/pbx/web-group.png) icon, then select **Company Contacts** or the specific phonebook that holds the contact.
