# Contacts Overview

The Contacts area of the Cloud Voice App gives you a single place to reach the external people you work with, such as customers, resellers, and partners. All of these contacts live on the server, and the app groups them so you can tell at a glance which entries are yours alone and which are shared with your team. Contacts fall into two broad categories: those you manage privately, and those your organization maintains together.

:::note
Contacts are external parties, not your internal colleagues or extensions. Because they are stored on the server, they follow your account across every place you sign in.
:::

## Personal Contacts

Personal Contacts hold your own external entries, such as the direct customers you deal with. No one else can see them; they are private to your account.

:::note
When you add, edit, or delete a personal contact, the change is synchronized across every Cloud Voice App session you use (desktop, mobile, and web). Your colleagues never see your personal contacts.

## Company Contacts

Company Contacts, also called phonebooks, are shared with the colleagues who have been authorized to view them. Use them for external parties your organization has in common, including customers, resellers, and partners, so the whole team works from the same contact information and collaboration stays consistent. Changes you make are synchronized to the server and across all of your Cloud Voice App sessions, and they are visible to the other authorized colleagues too.

:::note
If Company Contacts or a particular phonebook does not appear for you, you have not been granted permission to view it. Ask your system administrator to enable access if you need it.

## Favorite Contacts

For the people you contact most often, mark the entry as a favorite. Both personal and company contacts can be flagged this way, and every favorite is collected in the Favorite Contacts list so you can find and reach them without searching.

:::tip
Marking your regular contacts as favorites is the quickest way to reach them: the Favorite Contacts list saves you from scrolling or searching each time you call.
