# Microsoft Outlook Integration Overview

Linking the Cloud Voice desktop app to Outlook for Windows brings your calling tools into the mail client you already use every day. Once connected, you can dial any Outlook contact straight from Outlook, and the app keeps your contact records and call history in sync. This page covers what you need to run the integration and the capabilities it unlocks.

:::caution
The macOS version of the Cloud Voice desktop app cannot integrate with Microsoft Outlook. This feature is available only on Windows.

## Requirements

Before you set up the integration, confirm that your Outlook installation meets the following:

- **Client**: Outlook for Windows
- **Version**: Outlook 2016 or newer
- **Operating system**: Windows 10 or Windows 11

:::note
"Outlook for Windows" means the Outlook desktop application installed on a PC, not Outlook on the web (Outlook.com) or the mobile app. These requirements are firm: if the version is older than 2016, or the machine is not running Windows 10 or 11, the integration will not work.

## Key features

Pairing the Cloud Voice desktop app with Outlook adds the following capabilities:

- **Make calls in Outlook**: Start a call to any Outlook contact directly from Outlook, placed through the Cloud Voice desktop app.
- **Call popup**: When an incoming call arrives from someone saved in Outlook, that contact's profile opens automatically so you know who is calling before you answer.
- **Call journal**: Every call you make or take with an Outlook contact is recorded to Outlook automatically once the call ends, giving you a running history alongside your other communications.
- **Automatic contact creation**: If you call or receive a call from a number that isn't already in your Outlook contacts, Outlook opens a new contact form so you can save the details on the spot.
