# Schedule Automatic Directory Synchronization

Active Directory (AD) is Microsoft's directory service, the system that stores your organization's user accounts and contact details. Cloud Voice can pull that information in on a recurring schedule so its directory stays aligned with AD without anyone updating contacts by hand.

Out of the box, Cloud Voice runs one synchronization every day at 00:30 local time. If that timing doesn't suit your organization, you can change how often the sync runs and the time it starts. This page covers adjusting that schedule.

:::note
You only need to change these settings if the default 00:30 daily sync does not work for you. If you leave them alone, Cloud Voice keeps running the daily sync automatically.
:::

## Set the synchronization schedule

1. Sign in to the Cloud Voice management portal and open **Integrations > Collaboration**.
2. In the **Basic** section, pick how frequently the sync should run and the local time it should start:
   - **Daily** runs the sync once every day at the time you set. For instance, you might have it pull updates at 23:59 each night.

   - **Weekly** runs the sync only on the day or days you select, at the time you set. For instance, you might schedule it for 23:59 every Saturday.

3. Click **Save**.

:::tip
Choose a window outside business hours or on the weekend so the sync doesn't compete with peak call activity.
:::

## Result

From now on, Cloud Voice syncs directory data from Active Directory automatically according to the schedule you defined.

:::caution
Synchronization runs on your schedule, not continuously. Changes made in Active Directory (a new hire, a removed account, an updated phone number) will not appear in Cloud Voice until the next scheduled run. If you need a change reflected right away, run a manual synchronization instead of waiting.
