# Disconnect Microsoft Entra ID Integration

Your phone system can be tied to only one directory at a time. So before you connect Cloud Voice to a different directory, you must first take down the existing Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) link. Follow the steps below to end the current integration.

:::note[Why you would do this]
Disconnecting is the required first step whenever you want to switch the source of your users and groups (for example, moving to a different Microsoft Entra ID tenant or another directory service). Once disconnected, changes made in the directory no longer sync into the PBX (Private Branch Exchange, the software that runs your phone system).
:::

## Procedure

1. Sign in to the PBX web portal and open **Integrations > Collaboration**.

   :::note
   **Collaboration** is the section that lists directory and productivity integrations, including the Microsoft Entra ID link. The active integration is shown here while it is connected.
   :::

2. Locate the **Disconnect** button in the upper-right corner of the integration page and click it.

3. In the confirmation window that appears, choose how the previously synced data should be handled, then confirm.

   ![Cloud Voice, disconnect dialog with options for deleting or keeping synced extensions and extension groups](/images/pbx/disconnect-from-pbx.png)

   a. Decide what happens to the PBX records that were kept in sync with the directory's users and groups:

   | Option | What it does |
   | --- | --- |
   | **Delete the PBX extensions in sync with the Users** | Selected: those extensions are deleted. Cleared: the extensions are retained and are managed entirely within the PBX from then on. |
   | **Delete the PBX extension groups in sync with the Groups** | Selected: those extension groups are deleted. Cleared: they are retained and are managed entirely within the PBX from then on. |

   :::danger
   Selecting either delete option permanently removes the matching extensions or extension groups when you confirm. Deleted extensions lose all phone service, including the ability to place emergency (E911) calls, and they cannot be recovered. Only select these boxes if you are certain those users no longer need service on this PBX.
   :::

   :::tip
   If you only want to stop syncing but keep everyone's phones working, leave both boxes cleared. The extensions and groups stay in place and become fully editable inside the PBX.
   :::

   b. Click **Confirm**.

## Result

The connection to Microsoft Entra ID is removed, and the phone system is free to be linked to another directory.
