# Configure Audio Devices

The Cloud Voice for Dynamics 365 plugin lets you pick exactly which hardware handles your calls, so incoming rings, call audio, and your voice are each routed to the right device. This is useful when a workstation has more than one option available, for example a headset plus the computer's built-in speakers. Follow the steps below to set your preferences.

## Before you begin

Make sure the plugin is running in Dynamics 365 mode.

:::note
Dynamics 365 mode means the plugin is embedded in and working alongside the Dynamics 365 window, rather than running as a stand-alone app. The audio settings described here apply to calls you handle inside the plugin.

:::tip
Connect the headset or other device you plan to use before you open the Audio tab. The drop-down lists only show devices that are plugged in and recognized by the computer at that moment, so a device connected later will not appear until you reopen the settings.
:::

## Set your audio devices

1. Sign in to the Cloud Voice for Dynamics 365 plugin, then click the preferences icon ![Preferences](/images/pbx/preferences.png).
2. Open the **Audio** tab.
3. Use the drop-down lists to choose a device for each of the following:
   - **Microphone**: the input the other party hears you through.
   - **Speaker**: the output that plays call audio (the person on the other end).
   - **Ringing Device**: the output that plays the ringtone for incoming calls.

   :::note
   You can point the Ringing Device at a different output than the Speaker. A common setup is to ring on the desk or laptop speakers so you hear calls across the room, while call audio plays through a headset once you answer.
   :::
4. Click **Save** to apply your selections.

:::caution
If you pick a device that is later unplugged or turned off, that part of the call can go silent (no ringtone, no audio, or the caller cannot hear you). If audio stops working, reopen the **Audio** tab and confirm each selected device is still connected. Also make sure the browser or operating system has granted microphone access to the plugin, or the Microphone selection will have no effect.
