# Manually Perform User Synchronization

Cloud Voice keeps its user list in step with Google Workspace by pulling user details on a set synchronization schedule. If you have just changed a synchronization rule, or someone updated a user's information in Google Workspace, you do not have to wait for the next scheduled run. You can trigger one sync by hand so the change is applied immediately.

:::note
Synchronization runs in one direction only: Google Workspace is the source, and Cloud Voice is updated to match it. A manual run pulls the current details from Google Workspace into your PBX (Private Branch Exchange, the phone system that routes your calls). It does not push anything from Cloud Voice back to Google Workspace.
:::

## Before you start

- The Google Workspace integration must already be set up and connected under **Integrations > Collaboration**. The **Update Now** control only appears once the integration is in place.

## Run a synchronization now

1. Sign in to the PBX web portal and open **Integrations > Collaboration**.
2. In the **Basic** section, click **Update Now**.

Cloud Voice runs a single user synchronization straight away and applies any pending rule or data change. The manual run happens once. Your normal synchronization schedule continues as before.

:::tip
Use **Update Now** right after you edit a synchronization rule or change a user in Google Workspace. It confirms your change works as expected instead of leaving you guessing until the next scheduled sync.
:::

:::caution
A manual run applies the current synchronization rule to every matched user at once, and overwrites the synced fields in Cloud Voice with whatever is in Google Workspace right now. Review the rule before you click **Update Now**: if the rule is misconfigured, the wrong changes are pushed to all users immediately.
