# Disconnect LDAP Integration

LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) is a standard way for systems to read contact records from a shared directory server. Cloud Voice can sync company contacts from one LDAP directory at a time. If you want to point Cloud Voice at a different database, you must end the current LDAP integration first. Disconnecting also gives you the chance to clear out any contacts or phonebook that the previous sync created.

## Open the LDAP configuration

1. Sign in to the Cloud Voice management portal and open **Contacts > Company Contacts**.
2. Near the top of the page, select **Synchronize Contacts**.

   :::note
   The **Synchronize Contacts** screen is where every third-party directory source is managed, not just LDAP. Opening it is the entry point for connecting, editing, or removing any contact integration.

3. Switch to the **LDAP** tab.

## Remove the integration

1. In the top-right corner, choose **Disconnect**.

   :::caution
   Disconnecting stops contact synchronization immediately. Cloud Voice will no longer pull updates from the LDAP directory, so any later changes on the directory server will not appear until you connect an integration again.

2. Optionally, decide what to do with the data the sync already created:
   - Enable **Delete Synced Contacts** to remove the contacts that were imported from LDAP.
   - Enable **Delete Phonebook created by synchronization** to remove the phonebook that the sync generated.

   :::danger
   These two checkboxes permanently delete the imported contacts and phonebook. There is no undo, and the only way to get the data back is to reconnect and sync again. Leave both boxes unchecked if you want to keep the existing contacts, for example when you plan to reconnect the same directory or switch to a new one.
   :::

3. Select **Confirm**.

Once confirmed, the LDAP integration is disconnected and you are free to set up a new directory source.
