# Disconnect LDAP Integration

Cloud Voice reads contacts from an external directory using LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), a standard way to pull contact records from a central directory server. Cloud Voice supports one directory integration at a time, so before you connect a different contact database you must first end the current LDAP integration. This page walks through disconnecting LDAP and, optionally, cleaning up the contacts and phonebook it created.

:::note
You only need to do this when you are switching to a different contact source. If you simply want to refresh the current directory, leave the integration connected and re-run synchronization instead.
:::

## Open the LDAP integration settings

1. Sign in to the Cloud Voice management portal and navigate to **Contacts > Company Contacts**.
2. Select **Synchronize Contacts** at the top of the page.

3. Open the **LDAP** tab.

:::note
The **Synchronize Contacts** button opens the dialog that manages every third-party contact source. Choosing the **LDAP** tab makes sure you are acting on the LDAP connection and not another integration.
:::

## Disconnect the integration

![LDAP synchronization settings showing the Disconnect control and cleanup checkboxes](/images/pbx/disconnect-ldap-integration.png)

1. In the top-right corner, click **Disconnect**.
2. Optional: To remove the data that synchronization brought in, select **Delete Synced Contacts** and **Delete Phonebook created by synchronization**.
3. Click **Confirm**.

:::tip
Disconnecting on its own stops future syncing but leaves the imported contacts and phonebook in place. Leave both delete checkboxes unchecked if you want to keep those records after the integration is removed.
:::

:::danger
Selecting **Delete Synced Contacts** and **Delete Phonebook created by synchronization** permanently removes those records from Cloud Voice. This cannot be undone, and any records that no longer exist in the external directory will not come back on a future re-sync. Only check these boxes if you are sure you no longer need the imported data.
:::

Once confirmed, the LDAP integration is removed and Cloud Voice is ready for you to configure a new directory source.
