# Disconnect Microsoft SQL Integration

Only one external contact database can be connected at a time. Before you link Cloud Voice to a different database, first disconnect the Microsoft SQL integration that is already in place. During removal you can decide whether to keep or discard the contacts and phonebook that the sync created.

:::note
SQL (Structured Query Language) is the language used to query a Microsoft SQL Server database. Cloud Voice reads contact records from that database and copies them into a shared phonebook so they appear across the phone system.
:::

## Open the Microsoft SQL configuration

Why you would do this: the integration settings, including the Disconnect control, live on the contact synchronization screen rather than on a separate integrations page.

1. Sign in to the Cloud Voice management portal and navigate to **Contacts > Company Contacts**.
2. At the top of the page, select **Synchronize Contacts**.

:::note
**Synchronize Contacts** opens the current integration's configuration. If Microsoft SQL is connected, its settings and status are shown here.
:::

## Disconnect the integration

1. In the top-right corner, click **Disconnect**.
2. Optional: To remove the data that synchronization brought in, select **Delete Synced Contacts** and **Delete Phonebook created by synchronization**.
3. Click **Confirm**.

:::tip
Leave both delete checkboxes unchecked if you only want to swap the connection but keep the imported contacts available in the phonebook. Disconnecting on its own stops future syncing without removing existing entries.
:::

:::caution
Selecting **Delete Synced Contacts** and **Delete Phonebook created by synchronization** permanently removes those imported entries from Cloud Voice. The contacts still exist in the source database, so you would need to reconnect and re-sync to bring them back. Only tick these boxes if you are sure you no longer need the imported data.
:::

The Microsoft SQL integration is now disconnected, and you are free to set up a connection to another database.
