# Set up Lead or Contact Creation for Odoo CRM

With Cloud Voice connected to Odoo CRM (Customer Relationship Management, the system that stores your leads and contacts), you can capture unrecognized callers as Odoo records so no prospect slips past your team. New leads or contacts can be generated automatically for qualifying calls, or extension users can add them by hand during a call. Either way, your CRM database keeps growing as your team places and answers calls.

## Before you begin

Cloud Voice must already be [integrated with Odoo CRM](/pbx/integrations/odoo/integrate-cloud-voice-with-odoo-crm/).

## Configure record creation

1. Sign in to the PBX (Private Branch Exchange, your phone system) web portal and open **Integrations > CRM**.
2. On the CRM integration page, enable **Create New Contact**.
3. From the **Create Contact or Lead** drop-down, choose which kind of Odoo record to generate.

   - **Individual**: save the unknown number as an [Individual (contact)](/pbx/integrations/odoo/odoo-crm-integration-guide/#topic_nt5_431_lvb__odoo-individual).
   - **Leads**: save the unknown number as a [Lead](/pbx/integrations/odoo/odoo-crm-integration-guide/#topic_nt5_431_lvb__odoo-lead).
4. Under **Create Method**, decide how records are added.
   - To let Cloud Voice build records on its own for specific calls:
   1. Select **Automatically**.
   2. Use the **Call Type** drop-down to choose which calls trigger a new record.

        - **Inbound**: an incoming call from a number that matches no existing Lead, Individual, or Company in the CRM.
        - **Outbound**: an outgoing call to a number that matches no existing Lead, Individual, or Company in the CRM.

        :::tip
        The **Inbound** option creates a record for every unrecognized incoming call, which can include spam and wrong numbers. If you only want records for numbers your team actually dials, choose **Outbound**.

   - To let the associated extension users create records themselves while on a call, select **Manually**.
5. Click **Save**.

## What happens next

In automatic mode, whenever an associated extension dials or answers an unknown number, Odoo CRM records a fresh contact or lead.

Records that Cloud Voice creates automatically are named with the prefix `Automatic New Contact` followed by the phone number.

In manual mode, the associated extension users can save an unknown number as a new contact or lead in the CRM themselves.

When [Contact Synchronization](/pbx/integrations/odoo/set-up-contact-synchronization-with-odoo-crm/) is enabled, any contact or lead created here is also copied into the matching Cloud Voice phonebook.
