# Enable Auto Answer for Non-paging/intercom Calls

Auto answer lets the Cloud Voice App connect incoming non-paging and intercom calls for you, so there is no need to tap to accept each one and callers spend less time waiting. This page walks through turning the feature on and adjusting how it behaves.

:::note
Paging and intercom are special call types that already connect on their own, so this setting does not touch them:

- **Paging**: a one-way announcement broadcast to a group of phones (like a loudspeaker). Receiving phones open automatically and play the audio; listeners cannot talk back.
- **Intercom**: a two-way call that the called phone opens instantly for immediate hands-free talk.

"Non-paging/intercom calls" therefore means every other incoming call: ordinary calls that normally wait for you to tap **Answer**. This is the feature that makes those calls pick up on their own.

## Before you begin

Make sure your mobile app meets the minimum version:

- Cloud Voice App on iOS: 5.8.2 or later
- Cloud Voice App on Android: 5.8.3 or later

## Turn on auto answer

1. From the **Calls** screen, tap your account in the top-left corner.
2. Open **Settings > Advanced**.
3. Switch **Auto Answer** on, then set the options below to suit how you work.

- **Play Auto Answer Tone**: Turn this on to hear a short beep whenever a non-paging or intercom call is answered for you.
- **Auto Answer Delay Time(s)**: Choose how many seconds a caller waits before the app connects the call. Enter any value from 0 to 60; a value of 0 answers incoming non-paging and intercom calls right away.

:::caution
Auto answer opens the call, and the device microphone, without anyone tapping the screen. On a shared or unattended phone, that means a caller can be heard through the device once the delay elapses. Leave **Play Auto Answer Tone** on so the person holding the phone knows a call has just gone live, and think twice before setting a very short delay on devices left in the open.
:::

## What happens next

Once enabled, non-paging and intercom calls are picked up automatically after the delay you set.

:::note
- Incoming video calls are answered as audio-only calls.
- If you are already on a call and call waiting is turned on, an incoming call holds until your current call ends and is then answered automatically. If call waiting is off, the call is sent to your **When Busy** destination instead.
