# Enable Auto Answer for Paging/Intercom Calls

Auto answer lets your device connect paging and intercom calls the moment they arrive, so you hear the announcement without reaching for your phone. Use the steps below to turn the feature on in the Cloud Voice App.

:::note
Paging is a one-way announcement broadcast to a group of phones. Intercom is a two-way call placed straight to a specific extension. Both are meant for quick, hands-free communication, which is why answering them automatically is useful.
:::

## Requirements

Confirm your app is up to date before you begin:

- **Cloud Voice App for iOS**: version 5.8.2 or newer
- **Cloud Voice App for Android**: version 5.8.3 or newer

:::caution
The **Auto Answer Paging/Intercom** setting only appears on the versions listed above. If you cannot find it in step 3, update the app first, then reopen Settings.
:::

## Turn on auto answer

1. On the **Calls** screen, tap your account name in the top-left corner.
2. Open **Settings > Advanced**.
3. Enable the **Auto Answer Paging/Intercom** switch, then adjust the related options to suit how you work.

   - **Play Auto Answer Tone**: Turn this on to hear a short beep whenever an incoming paging or intercom call is picked up for you.
   - **Paging/Intercom Calls Barge In**: Turn this on so that paging and intercom calls are answered automatically even while you are already on another call.

   :::tip
   Keep **Play Auto Answer Tone** on so you (and anyone nearby) get an audible cue the instant a call goes live on your device. Without it, a call can connect silently and pick up background audio.
   :::

   :::caution
   With **Paging/Intercom Calls Barge In** enabled, an incoming paging or intercom call connects on top of your current conversation. Leave it off if you do not want active calls interrupted without warning.
   :::

## Result

Paging and intercom calls now connect on their own, without any action from you.

:::note
If you are on a call and call waiting is switched off, an incoming paging or intercom call cannot barge in and is instead sent to your **When Busy** destination. You set that destination in your [presence settings](/pbx/mobile-client-user-guide/presence-settings/).
