# Automatically Switch Presence Based on Business Hours and Holidays

Your presence is the availability status colleagues see next to your name (for example Available, Lunch Break, or Off Work). Rather than updating it by hand each time you step away or clock off, you can have the Cloud Voice App set it for you based on the business hours and holidays your administrator has already defined for the account. This page walks through a typical setup.

## Scenario

Suppose your administrator has configured business hours and holidays on the phone system, and you want your presence to follow this schedule:

| Time period | Presence |
| --- | --- |
| **Business Hours**: 09:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 18:00, Monday through Friday | Available |
| **Break Hours**: 12:00 to 14:00, Monday through Friday | Lunch Break |
| **Holidays**: December 25 to January 5 | Off Work |
| **Outside Business Hours**: any time not covered above | Off Work |

## Set up automatic switching

1. Sign in to the Cloud Voice App (web) and open **Preferences > Features**.

   :::note
   This feature only follows a schedule that already exists. Your administrator must have set the account's business hours and holidays on the phone system first, otherwise there is nothing for your presence to switch on.
   :::
2. Under **Time-conditional Presence Auto Switch**, choose the presence to display for each time period. For the scenario above:
   - **Business Hours**: select **Available**.
   - **Break Hours**: select **Lunch Break**.
   - **Holidays**: select **Off Work**.
   - **Outside Business Hours**: select **Off Work**.
3. Click **Save**.

:::note
When two periods could apply at once, the higher-priority one wins. The order, from highest to lowest, is **Holidays > Break Hours > Business Hours > Outside Business Hours**.
:::

## Result

From now on, your presence changes automatically as the account moves through its business hours and holidays. In this example, once the clock passes 18:00 your presence switches to **Off Work**.

:::note
If someone manually overrides the account's current business hours state, your presence follows that override instead of the clock. For instance, if the business hours state is forced from **Outside Business Hours** to **Business Hours**, your presence switches from **Off Work** to **Available**.
