# Configure Language Preferences for Your Extension

Your extension can use different languages for different types of communication. Set the language you want for email notifications, for the system prompts you hear on calls, and for the voicemail prompts your callers hear.

:::note
Language preferences require server firmware version 84.19.0.70 or later.
:::

## Set your language preferences

1. Sign in to the Cloud Voice App Web Client and go to **Preferences > User**.
2. Under **Language**, adjust any of the following settings:
   - **Notification Email Language**: The language used in emails the system sends to you.
   - **System Prompt Language**: The language of the automated prompts you hear while on a call.
   - **Voicemail Language**: The language of the prompts a caller hears after reaching your voicemail.
3. Click **Save**.

:::note
Setting **Notification Email Language** to **Follow System** uses whatever global email language the system administrator has configured.
:::

:::caution
If you have [recorded a custom voicemail greeting](/pbx/web-client-user-guide/customize-your-voicemail-settings/#configure-voicemail-settings__section_hqb_zwj_ymb), callers hear that greeting instead, and the **Voicemail Language** setting is ignored. Change the greeting itself if the wrong language is playing.
