# Exit or End an Audio Conference

When an audio conference is underway, you can either step out on your own while it keeps running, or, as the host, close it for everyone at once. This page covers both actions.

## Leave a conference while it continues

Something comes up and you have to drop off before the discussion wraps up. How you do that depends on whether you are running the meeting.

**If you are the host:**

1. In the call toolbar along the bottom, click **End Call**.
2. Choose **Leave Conference**, then click **Confirm**.

You drop out of the call, but the conference stays live. It simply carries on without a host, which means no remaining participant can bring new people into the room.

:::note
When conference recording is turned on, it stops the moment you, as host, leave. The recording does not continue for the participants who stay behind.
:::

**If you are not the host:**

Just hang up the call to leave. The conference is unaffected for everyone else.

## End the conference for everyone

Only the host can shut down an audio conference entirely.

:::caution
Ending the conference immediately disconnects every participant, not just you, and it cannot be undone. Pick this only when the meeting should be over for everyone. If you just need to step away, choose **Leave Conference** instead so the discussion can keep going.
:::

1. In the call toolbar along the bottom, click **End Call**.
2. Choose **End Conference**, then click **Confirm**.

The call closes on your side and for every participant at the same time.
