# Run the Cloud Voice App Web Client at Startup

If you use the web client every day, you can skip the routine of opening a browser and signing in each time. By combining two settings, one on your computer and one in your browser, you can have the Cloud Voice App web client launch on its own when the machine starts and remain logged in.

Setting this up takes two parts:

1. Configure your browser to launch when the computer boots.
2. Pin the Cloud Voice App web client so it reopens with the browser.

Both parts are required. Launching the browser alone will not reopen the web client, and pinning the tab alone will not start the browser.

## Part 1: Launch your browser at startup

Follow the instructions for your operating system.

### Windows

1. Press the Windows logo key + **R** to open the Run dialog.
2. Type `shell:startup` and click **OK**. The Startup folder opens.

3. Copy the shortcut for your browser.
4. Paste the shortcut into the Startup folder.

   The browser now opens automatically whenever Windows starts.

:::note
The `shell:startup` command opens the current user's Startup folder. Anything placed here runs at login for that account only. To find your browser's shortcut, right-click its icon on the desktop or in the Start menu and choose Copy, then paste it into this folder.

### macOS

1. Open **System Preferences > Users & Groups**, then select the **Login Items** tab.
2. Click the Add (**+**) button to add an application.

3. Choose your browser in the picker and click **Add**.

   The browser now opens automatically whenever macOS starts.

## Part 2: Pin the web client in your browser

1. Sign in to the Cloud Voice App web client.
2. Right-click its browser tab.
3. Select **Pin**.

A pinned tab reopens automatically each time the browser launches, so the web client comes back with it.

:::tip
Pin the web client in the same browser you set to launch at startup in Part 1. If you pin it in a different browser, the two settings will not work together and the client will not reopen on boot.
:::

## Result

The Cloud Voice App web client now starts with your computer and remains signed in.

:::caution
- Do not sign out of the web client. If you do, it will not log in automatically the next time your browser opens.
- Notifications only arrive while the browser and the web client tab are open. If you close either one, you will stop receiving them. A companion Chrome extension is available that lets you make calls and receive notifications even when the browser is closed.
