DID Number Overview

This topic describes what a DID number is and DID usages on IZT Cloud Voice.

What is a DID number?

Direct Inward Dialing (DID), also called Direct Dial-In (DDI), is a service offered by telephone companies. A telephone company usually assigns a range of numbers to a trunk. There is a need to configure the DID numbers, you need to contact the provider to purchase DID numbers.

DID usages

IZT Cloud Voice allows you to configure DID numbers on an inbound route or a trunk to achieve different functions.

DID Configuration on an Inbound Route

Inbound Routes use DID numbers to identify incoming calls of different numbers, such as isolating calls for customer service.

When configuring an inbound route, follow the steps below:

  • DID Pattern: Enter a pattern that matches the DID numbers.
  • By performing similar steps and configuring DID numbers on a trunk, calls can be directed to designated extensions.

For more information, see how to configure Configure DID Numbers on a Trunk.
