π Distinctive Ringtone Overview
This topic describes what a Distinctive ringtone is, applications, and how IZT Cloud Voice can configure it.
What is Distinctive Ringtone?
Distinctive ringtone allows assigning different ringtones to distinguish incoming calls without looking at the Caller Name or Caller ID on the phone display.
For example, company A can have different ring groups or queues for the sales team, the customer service team, and the support team. If the sales team receives an external call, they can be sure that it is specifically addressed to them by identifying the distinctive ringtone set for sales.
Important: Distinctive ringtone is not supported on all SIP phones. Make sure that your phone supports the distinctive ringtone by "alert info text".
Applications
With the Distinctive ringtone feature, you can assign different ringtones for the following types of calls:
- Set Distinctive Ringtones for Internal Calls
- Set Distinctive Ringtones for External Calls
- Set Distinctive Ringtones for Queue Calls
- Set Distinctive Ringtones for Ring Group Calls
- Set Distinctive Ringtones for IVR Calls
How does Distinctive Ringtone Work?
In IZT Cloud Voice, you can assign different ringtones by identifying "Alert Info" to specific ring tones. The achievement of distinctive ringtone relies on alert info header.
- Internal Calls: When an internal call is made from one user extension to another.
- External Calls: Calls from outside inbound routes.
- Queue Calls: Calls directed through queues to agents.
- Ring Group Calls: Calls directed to ring groups set in PBX.
- IVR Calls: Interactive Voice Response system.
The PBX imposes the INVITE request for an βAlert-Infoβ header, strips off the alert info, and then plays corresponding ringtones associated with the info.
