πŸ“’ Overview of Paging and Intercom

This topic describes what Paging and Intercom, scheduled paging call, and intercom call are.

What is Paging and Intercom

IZT Cloud Voice Paging and Intercom feature helps users broadcast announcements over one or more speakers, without the called party picking up the handset.

Paging:

  • Paging feature is used to make a one-way announcement to users via speakers or phones with speaker mode.
  • When a broadcaster makes a paging call, the group members' phones automatically answer into speakerphone mode. Group members cannot talk with the broadcaster during the paging.

For more information, see Set up a One-way Paging Group.

Intercom:

  • Intercom feature is used to establish two-way communication with users via a phone speaker.
  • When the administrator makes an intercom call, the group members' phones also answer into speakerphone mode. Members can talk with the broadcaster during the intercom.

For more information, see Set up a Two-way Intercom Group.

Scheduled Paging Call and Intercom Call

Besides real-time paging calls, the Paging/Intercom feature also supports scheduling broadcast tasks. The Scheduled Paging/Intercom feature allows users to schedule a broadcast that requires routine notifications set in advance.

For more information, see Schedule a Paging Call, or an Intercom Call.
