Configure VLAN for a Provisioned Phone
Placing voice traffic on a dedicated VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network, a logical network segment carried over your physical switches) separates it from ordinary network data and lets you give calls priority on the wire, which improves audio quality on VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) calls. When a phone is managed through Auto Provisioning, you can define its VLAN settings centrally on the PBX (Private Branch Exchange, the phone system that manages your extensions and call routing) and push them down to the device.
