Force Drop an Extension's Call
Authorized users can end another extension’s call on demand by dialing a feature code from their own phone. This is useful when a call needs to be cut off right away, such as freeing a line or stopping an inappropriate conversation.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”The person dialing the feature code must hold the Call Force Drop permission. Without it, the feature code has no effect.
Drop a call
Section titled “Drop a call”You have two ways to force drop a call, depending on whether you already have the extension under monitoring.
- To drop a specific extension’s current call, dial the feature code followed by that extension number. For instance, dialing
*541000disconnects the active call on extension 1000. - If you are already monitoring an extension’s call, dial the feature code on its own to drop it. For example, while listening in on extension 1000, dialing
*54ends that call.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”When the feature code is accepted:
- You (the authorized user) hear the prompt “Call force drop succeeded,” and your call clears.
- The extension whose call was ended hears “This call was forcibly dropped,” and their call hangs up.
- The remote party is disconnected immediately, with no prompt.
