Perform a Blind Transfer

A blind transfer passes an in-progress call to someone else immediately, without an announcement or any handoff conversation. Use it when you simply need to route the caller elsewhere and don’t need to check whether the recipient can take the call.

Transfer the call

1. While you’re on the call, enter the blind transfer feature code (a short dialing sequence, *03 by default).

   The current call is put on hold, and you’ll hear a “transfer” prompt followed by a dial tone.

2. Dial the number or extension you want to send the call to.

   Your leg of the call drops automatically and the recipient’s phone starts ringing. Once the recipient picks up, the caller and the recipient are connected directly.

Caution

A blind transfer completes the moment you finish dialing: your side of the call drops right away, so you cannot cancel it or get the caller back afterward. Double-check the number before you dial. If you need to confirm the recipient is available first, use an attended (consultative) transfer instead.

Note

If the recipient doesn’t answer, the call follows that recipient’s call forwarding destination by default. When you’ve turned on Transfer Bounce Back (which covers both blind and semi-attended transfers), the unanswered call instead comes back to you, showing a Caller ID of Rebound Transfer Call: {caller_id_name}.
