Set the Cloud Voice App as your default calling app

Setting the Cloud Voice App as your default calling app (the default dialer) tells Android to place calls through Cloud Voice instead of the phone’s built-in dialer. Once it is set, tapping a phone number anywhere on the device (in Contacts, a web page, or an email) launches a call from your Cloud Voice business line automatically, so you do not have to open the app first.

Note

This option is available on Android devices only. There is no equivalent setting on iPhone.

To make the change:

1. Open the Settings app on your Android phone.
2. Go to Apps > Default Apps, then set the Phone app to Cloud Voice App.

Note

Menu names and navigation can differ from one Android model to another, so the exact path may not match the steps above. Look for a “Default apps” or “Phone app” option under your device’s app settings.

Check how emergency calls behave

Changing the default dialer can affect how the phone places emergency calls (for example 911 and E911). Before relying on this setting, confirm how your device and Cloud Voice App handle emergency dialing, and keep a way to reach emergency services through the phone’s native cellular dialer.

Tip

To go back to the phone’s built-in dialer, return to Apps > Default Apps > Phone app and select your device’s original phone app.
