Manage Internal Chat Members

As conversations grow or shift focus, you may need to bring new colleagues into an internal chat or take people out of a group. This page covers both from the Cloud Voice App on your mobile device.

Note

An internal chat is a conversation between colleagues who share the same phone system, so you can message anyone on your account without using their phone number. A one-to-one chat becomes a group chat once it has three or more people in it.

Invite members to a chat

Anyone already in a conversation can pull additional colleagues into it.

Note

You do not need to be the group admin to add someone. Any participant can invite new members, so a chat can grow past its original members without waiting on the person who started it.

1. In the Cloud Voice App, open Chat > Internal Chat.
2. Open the conversation you want, then tap the more icon in the top-right corner.
3. On the Chat Information page, tap Add Member.
4. Find and select the colleague or colleagues you want to include, then tap OK.

Tip

You can select several people at once in step 4 before you tap OK, so there is no need to invite them one at a time.

Remove members from a group chat

Group admins can take out anyone who no longer needs to be part of the conversation.

Caution

Only the group admin can remove members. If the Members page does not show the remove option, you are not the admin of that group and cannot take anyone out. Removed people lose access to the conversation and stop receiving new messages, so confirm you have the right person before you remove them.

1. In the Cloud Voice App, open Chat > Internal Chat.
2. Open the group chat, then tap the more icon in the top-right corner.
3. On the Chat Information page, tap Members.
4. Remove the people you no longer want in the group:
   1. Tap the remove-member icon in the top-right corner.
   2. Select the checkbox next to each person you want to take out.
   3. Tap Remove in the bottom-right corner.
