Audio Conference Call Operations

Once an audio conference is under way, the actions you can take depend on your role. The host runs the meeting and can manage everyone on the call, while participants have a smaller set of self-service controls.

The table below shows which operations are available to each role during a live audio conference.

Everything you need to run the meeting lives in the conference window.

The audio conference window showing participant audio feeds and the call controls

Use the icons in the top corner to change how the window is displayed:

  • Zoom-out icon, Shrink the call window down to a compact view.
  • Full-screen icon, Expand the conference to full screen.

The main area of the window shows the audio feed for everyone on the call. If you are the host, hover over a participant to manage them:

  • Mute participant icon, Mute or unmute that participant.
  • Remove participant icon, Drop a participant from the conference, or cancel an invitation that is still ringing.

The toolbar along the bottom of the window holds the call controls:

  • New Call: Start another call without hanging up. You can be on two calls at once; placing or answering a second call automatically puts the conference on hold.
  • Add Participant: Bring more people into the conference.
  • Mute: Mute or unmute yourself.
  • Hold/Resume: Put yourself on hold or rejoin the audio.
  • Dialpad: Open the keypad to send DTMF tones (DTMF stands for Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency, the beeps a phone makes when you press a key, used to navigate automated menus or enter conference PINs).
  • Record: Start or stop recording the conference.
  • End Call: Leave the conference, or end it for everyone if you are the host.
